Staff Training

Welcome to our nursery's Early Reading Journey program! I am thrilled to offer a unique and supportive learning experience for your child's literacy development. Join Funzo and Mark once a week as we embark on a six-week adventure focused on building a strong foundation for early reading.

During each session, your child will delve into the world of letters, with a dedicated focus on learning one letter per week. As an experienced Early Years Teacher, I will guide the children through engaging activities designed to make learning both enjoyable and effective.

Throughout the first phase of the program, children will consolidate their understanding of Phase One Phonics skills, laying the groundwork for successful reading. Our goal is to ensure that each child not only recognizes and understands individual letters but also grasps the fundamental phonics skills needed for reading.

As the weeks progress, and children secure their knowledge of Phase One and build a bank of letters, we will transition into the exciting realm of reading CVC words. This crucial step marks the beginning of their journey into decoding and comprehending words, setting the stage for a lifelong love of reading.

In addition to our fantastic Early Reading Journey program for children, we are pleased to offer comprehensive Phonics training sessions for our staff.

The training sessions aim to equip staff with a solid understanding of both Phase One and Phase Two Phonics. These sessions will provide valuable insights into the developmental milestones and learning objectives associated with each phase, empowering our educators to create an enriching learning environment for our young learners.

For those interested in implementing Funzo's Phonics specifically, I offer specialised training that goes beyond the basics. This in-depth training provides a thorough understanding of the scheme of work, offering detailed insights into the curriculum structure, lesson plans, and strategies for effective implementation. Funzo's Phonics is not just a program; it's an immersive and engaging approach to early literacy.

By investing in staff training, I ensure that our educators are well-prepared and confident in delivering high-quality phonics instruction. This, in turn, enhances the overall educational experience for our children, setting them on a path to reading success.

Parent Stay & Play

Invite your parents in, Funzo's Phonics will host a Stay and Play where parents will watch a phonics session with their child and then complete some creative activities to support their learning. During this time, I will call individual children over and give specific instructions to parents to support their child's Early Reading Journey,
